I had heard that the Kelts were going to start a youth league. Does anyone know anything about this? I would appreciate any info.

Thanks,
John Mains

John,

There has been quite a bit of talk over the years about youth rugby in the Greater Cincinnati area. How much interest would there be at Simon Kenton? I know St. X in Cincinnati was trying to organize a team. The high schools typically have a problem with the increased liability a rugby program brings with it. There may be several ways to overcome these problems.

The best way for others to help is to try to find out exactally how much interest there is in your school for the sport (how many people want to play).

Some of the other guys on the team may know more about the subject. I'll check into it.

How did you find out about our club?

I spoke to Darryl Rice from the Wolfhounds back in August. He said there is a big push to organize youth rugby in the Cinci area, and they were looking to recruit coaches from among the Wolfhounds, Kelts and QC. Mike Mers was taking that list of volunteers from the Kelts. We would hope to get teams together at any high school where significant interest is shown. We can deal with the obstacles to formation if the interest is there. John, I would say get about 20-25 names on a list of interested guys, and we'll follow up from there.

Canuck, did you notice the moniker "Little Mains"? Ring any bells?;)

Yeah thats right. If anyone was wondering Little Mains is my little brother so try to keep as much porn as you can away from him. Although I'm sure he has no problem finding it on his own

Not to stop the porn discussion, but there will be a Coaching Clinic on December 8th at Brimelow Fields to help the teaching skills of anyone interested in helping out at the High School level. More info as it becomes available.
Little Mains - I would assume that to start, we will probably end up with several high school Clubs based on area of town you live in. St. X is the only school officially organizing and they are even still fighting administration issues. I do know that their program will be open to all high schoolers, until such a time as there are more schools involved.
We should have more info on what's going to happen after the 8th and we'll get it out.
Now, to continue where James left off.
PORN PORN PORN PORN PORN. Now that I have a computer at the house, I may never go out again!!!

Indian Hill High School is starting a team up in the spring. They are recruiting pretty heavily! My sisters are pretty upset that it's going to be just for the boys.

Yes - I heard from Joe Callahan of the wolfhounds. They are sponsoring the clinic. What specifics are you looking for? I can give you hos email address. They are putting this together for their guys who are helping out with the high school clubs. He said the wolfhounds and queencity were the 2 clubs who were putting the high school thing together. I thought we were doing something also.

Ok here is what I have found out I will let you know when I find out more... The clinic starts on Sat. at 11:00 at Brimlow fields. It is a coaching clinic where you will be trained as a high school coach. From what I gather all you have do to is show up and be trained.

It would be nice to have a update on the Coaching Clinic that happened last weekend. How are things shaping up and what can be done to help?

What kind of numbers are we talking about in terms of teams or just plain interest?

I wanna know.
