Kelts,

Summer practices will officially start Wednesday, June 12th at Ault Park. This will give us three weeks off to 1. be available to work with the Women's team to prepare them for the tournament; 2. Actually do things for the tournament; 3. heal our broken bodies from a very long season; 4. just take a damn break.

We will do a Wednesday/Saturday schedule up to the beginning of August, when we'll start 15's work for the Fall. The week prior to Ft. Wayne, we'll do 15's work on Monday 7/8 and Wednesday 7/10.

In general, we will run touch/ultimate on Wednesday nights and have a combo touch/actual 7's practice on Saturday's. If there is a 7's tournament, the people staying in town will still run touch. Use the Summer to work on ball handling and fitness, we'll start back with general skills in August. I'll say 6:30 for Wednesday and Noon for Saturdays.

Now, for the next three weeks, as promised. We need to support the Women's effort to win the "National" Tournament. They would like anyone who is able to meet at the Tylersville Rd Fields on Wednesday and Saturdays until the tournament. We will also have a workout on a couple of Tuesdays at KofC for the Kelts ladies and help them with any specific needs. Please note that if you attend any of the Tylersville Road practices, you are not there to teach, they have Borg and Quack to coach, you are there only to give opposition and be tackling dummies. Keep your mouths quiet and pay attention to the coaches. This is not a horseplay session, and you'll be asked to leave if you're disruptive. There will be contact, so if you don't feel you can tone down your game, please don't come. We don't want anyone hurt. I will have Lisa email directions and times.

5/21 - KofC - touch/work with Kelt Women
5/22 - Tylersville - Opposition, as needed, for the Women
5/25 - Women are trying to schedule a game, if not, Tylersville.
5/28 - KofC - touch/work with Kelt Women
5/29 - Tylersville - Opposition, as needed, for the Women
6/1 - Tylersville - Opposition, as needed, for the Women
6/5 - Tylersville - Opposition, as needed, for the Women
6/8 - 2002 Women's DII Club Rugby National Championship

Write all this down and call the voicemail/check email frequently and let's have a good, fun Summer!!!

What's with the change from Tuesday/Thursday to a Wednesday practice? I like Tuesday/Thursday a lot more.

Cuz its the OFF season! See, there's a season and then there's the off season. Saturday being the last game and all ENDS the SEASON. In the fall, we'll have a whole NEW season, and it will seem all the more special because we have deprived ourselves of rugby one day a week through the whole damn summer!

Last summer we had practices on Tuesday and Thursday, not the Wednesdays that we have now. I am asking why that got changed. Despite what the song may say, I have grown accustomed to Tuesday and Thursday as Rugby days... as well as Saturday.

Bear,

We changed from Tuesday and Thursday just to piss you off, no other reason.

Love,

Canuck

Sheesh, just asked a simple question.

If there is no real reason for it, then say so.

This was a decision by Wax, Mike Brown and myself. We felt everyone is burned out and we needed to cut back so everyone has time to do some other things; families, friends, work. If we feel the need later in the Summer, we will add an additional day, but for now, Wednesday and Saturday is it.

Just so you know, I believe last summer was the first time we had Tues/Thurs. through the summer. The year before that we had Wed practice, and in years previous it was just a few guys getting together informally to play touch.

I know this is short notice, but instead of fighting the parking situation at Ault Park tonight, 6/20/02. There is a park by my place. It is easy to find and 5 minutes from Ault Park. It is just off of Beechmont at the top of the first hill. Behind the Blockbuster, Gold Star, and the defunct Hardees. It is a great, heavily shaded park. If we have time to get the word out, we should try this place. At least consider it for future use.
